Still Here!

Wow, when I look at the last time I posted, it says 'February 21'. That means I haven't told you guys about all my adventures! I haven't even told you about seeing Mustang!!!! Wow! But at this point, that's too long a story to tell. If I tried to catch you up on everything I have done since I last posted, it would take me hours, and you probably would lose interest in reading such a long post. So I will commence telling you the main points.

  • I played in a Robert Earl Keen concert, which I call the REK (pronouce wreck) concert. It was actually pretty fun.
  • I got to ride Quest again! Except he was being moody and I seriously thought he might buck me off, so his owner actually let me ride Bear! (Whom she is very protective of)
  • I got to see Mustang!!!!!! They came out here, and then I went with them into town and stayed in their hotel with them and then Mustang and I went swimming and oh! It was insanely EPIC!
  • Our homeschool Co-op started! It's really fun.
  • We're reading the Wingfeather Saga again! (Oh yeah!!!)
  • Our cousin came down for part of Spring Break! I got to go over to Grandma's house and play Skip-Bo (which Grandma creamed us at) and Scrabble (which Grandma creamed us at).
  • Two of our friends from where Mom and Dad used to live came down for Spring Break! Those two are a hoot!
I am really not quite sure what to post about, but I know I really should do more than catch you up; I should fill you in.  See, the thing is that for my first post in over a month, I know I shouldn't post about rainbow puffles (which I know for certain and confirmed we are getting on Thursday). But I don't know whether to post about the friends that came down from where Mom and Dad used to live, or puffles, or what. For all I know, the beautiful weather could be worth posting about.

I really just wanted you to know that no, I have not been eaten by a whale, swallowed up by the earth, struck by lightning, or whatever else you can come up with. I'm still here, just busy and finding it hard to post in between math, science, history, and being in town.

I sincerely promise that I will try to keep a schedule of posting, but just a warning, I'm not always great with posting.

But since I mentioned it, do you want to hear about rainbow puffles?

My Life in Random, Scattered Thoughts for Today

  • Yar har! It's Thursday!
  • My sign for today on my day by day calender is funny
  • Oh dear, it's almost Friday.
  • Guess what? I get to ride Quest tomorrow!!!
  • YAY!
  • I love the Wingfeather Saga
  • Oh dear, it's also almost Saturday.
  • I have to do a REK concert, and a music festival thingy
  • OH YAY!!! It's only like, a week until I see Mustang again!
  • If you want to look into The Lord of the Rings trilogy, I sincerely advise you to read the books instead of watching the movies. For the simple reason that, while they are decently good movies, they do not follow the books, so if you want to get the actual story, read the books.
  • Aha! I drew a picture of Janner that actually looks good!
  • It was cold yesterday.
  • I'm getting back into HI (Horse Isle) again!
  • Beware the Bumpy Digtoad
  • I got a sword book when we went into the big city for Creator's son's-OH YEAH! Creator's Son had a card game tournament! And he got like, second place! Anywho, I got a sword book wile we were in the big city for that.
  • I MISS MUSTANG!!!!!
  • Wow, I have a lot of random thoughts today.
  • Oooh I'm hungry. Be right back.
  • Ahhhh. I got some chocolate, and I'm all better now.
  • Toothy cows are ferocious.
  • We have a homeschool presentation night coming up sometime soon.
  • AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! Why must we wait for the fourth book????
  • Did you know that when CS drives a car, it's scary.
  • My dog can bark really loud.
  • CS is reading over my shoulder!!!!
  • My life is rather random. How sad.
  • I wonder if CS will read North! Or Be Eaten....... to us while we drive into town today.
  • I hope so!!
  • I can't believe it's already almost the end of February!!!
  • Why must it be cold? WHY?
I think that's all my random thoughts today. Thank you poor readers who endure my randomness.

What's New With You?

Around here, things this week aren't the same as they usually are. It has been colder than average, but we've been in town and not out at the Ranch. In fact, I've only been out at the Ranch maybe twice so far this week: Half of Sunday and half of Monday, and once yesterday morning to get some things we needed (mainly school).

You see, we came in for orchestra on Monday and our Tuesday stuff. That's normal for us. Then, Creator's Son was going to have this teen thing on Thursday night (which is now tonight). No problem, we'd come back into town. Not so normal for us, but no problem. However, our car has this thing. Mom was getting the oil changed last week and the people at the oil change place did something to it that didn't go so well. Bah humbug. Oh well.

Nana had offered us staying at her house until Thursday for Creator's Son, but Mom was thinking she might decline the offer so we could get school done. Early afternoon on Tuesday, Mom decided to call our friendly repair dude to ask him about our car. Then he asks her a question along the lines of "What size is the engine?" and Mom didn't know, so lo and behold we have to drive over there and show him. Turns out that was a bigger deal than we thought, and he tells us we'll need to bring it in on Thursday, now today, as early as possible.

That pretty much decided things for Mom, so we headed out to the Ranch yesterday morning to grab what we needed for Wednesday and Thursday. Then late last night, about 9:45-ish, we get an email that Creator's Son's teen night was off. Bah humbug. Oh well.

About 7:15-ish this morning, Mom and Nana headed off to our friendly car repair dude's place to let him have the car for the day so he can play with it and fix it. I read 'The Fellowship of the Ring' and got dressed while they were gone, then I got on CP and played at their newest party, the dinosaur party. They got back, I ate some food, played on CP, and now I'm sitting typing the very words you see here. Amazing how these things work, isn't it?

So everything going on this week got me to wondering, what's new with you? What kind of new thing or adventure have you had this week? If you want, comment to tell me what's been going on in your world.

PS: I love typing on my Mom's laptop! [(Which is what I am presently doing!) Hee hee hedgehog! In the words of Count Olaf]

New Year, Fresh Start

Let's start the new year of right here at my blog- with a random 30 or so things. Whadda ya say?

  1. It's nice to see everyone survived the Myan doomsday.
  2. And the Fiscal Cliff or whatever that was called
  3. I hope you all survive whatever new date for the end of the world they come up with
  4. It's tough, surviving doomsdays, isn't it?
  5. You wanna know something? As of RIGHT NOW, my house is exactly 46.6 degrees.
  6. And outside is 34.4
  7. But we have the heater on in the room I am in and a curtain over the door, so I am in a room which is 64.2.
  8. It's a bit chilly, wouldn't ya say?
  9. Did you know that the name Clint Barton, Marvel's hero Hawkeye's name, means 'barley farm on the hilltop'?
  10. I bet you didn't know that Elmo means 'friendly'. Scary, isn't it?
  11. What does Keith mean? It means 'a place' in Celtic.
  12. Did you know that Mignon is a real name and that it means 'dainty'?
  13. Is it really 2013 already?? AHHHHHH!!!!!
  14. I mean, whoopee.
  15. Whoopee with streamers.
  16. And ribbons. I'm so excited, can't you tell?
  17. Mustang, you're gonna love my rock fort!
  18. AFTER YOU FINALLY GET OUT HERE!
  19. *sniff sniff* I miss you so much Mustang!
  20. I guess I have enough time to fix up my rock fort then, huh?
  21. I'm hungry.
  22. Mom, do we have any pineapple? (If you don't know why this is funny, go look at the post Ya Wanna Know Random?)
  23. OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
  24. I just hit my elbow really hard on the corner of my brother's desk.
  25.  But I'm all better now, I'll live
  26. I learned why people don't like cactus.
  27. I got a spine stuck relatively an inch into my knee
  28. I also learned that when necessary, I can run like a scared cheetah.
  29. I was being attacked by fire ants, you see, and really didn't feel like getting bitten.
  30. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry, I just thought of *cringe* the-the- the- the guinea.
Soooo, Happy New Year to all and to all a  good night. Oh wait, that's Christmas. Never mind.

Guide on What to Expect From Book-On-Tape/CDs

These next few posts are going to be guides on what to expect from random things. Today is "What to expect from Book on tape/CD".

One good thing about Books on tape (or CD) is the fact that you can find most things on tape or CD if you look. You don't have to be a reader to listen to some really good books.

1. Whatever you do, DON'T pick up the Lemony Snicket books, A Series of Unfortunate Events. Just don't. You will live your life a much, much happier person.

2. If you, for some reason, decide to listen to the afore mentioned Lemony Snicket books DON'T BLAME ME, but please think about taking the rest of my advice below.

3. Otherwise, it really depends on what you have chosen to listen to. If you pick up a Hank the Cowdog book on tape, you can expect lots of laughter and, though it is hilariously stupid, you might even find some suspense. And you'll find yourself hating the cat. If you have chosen something a little more in depth, say Narnia, you will probably find a story well told whether you read it or if you listen to it. If you are finding out a little on a bunch of different genres, choose things that are completely different, like Hank and Narnia. Find out if you lean more towards stupid things like Hank, or an in-depth story that is really well told like Narnia.

4.  Always expect the accents. All the best books (or even some of the not as good ones) use British readers. Try to expect it, and whatever you do, attempt deciphering any words that you don't understand. For instance, if you hear smackablobnaharnahar, it may be the phrase 'Oh really? That is so interesting!'. Always listen to what the people are saying, and if you hear something that doesn't make sense you have 3 options: a) Replay it. That sometimes works. b) Remember what they said just before and try to make out what they might be saying or it is probable that they could have said. c) Live with it the rest of your life. :O

5. If it says things like "Then, it happened." or use the word 'suddenly', brace yourself for a major plot twist. If it's not a major plot twist after either of these things, the writer is being sarcastic. Writers tend to be sarcastic, so if something happens at the end of a chapter that is a major plot twist, at the beginning of the next chapter, they may throw in a couple of lines of boooorriing description or telling you why they had to rush off so quickly or explaining every detail of their delicious dinner last night before they finally get to the story.

So there you have a quick, 5 step guide to books on tape or CD. Enjoy!

Random Things on my Mind

I got my Wingfeather Saga back again!!!! And I'm reading them, and I'm almost done with the second one and then I'm gonna read the third one and then I'm gonna read another book that I wanna read and then I'll start the Wingfeather Saga again! I'm really happy to get to read them again.

My brother, Creator's Son, has a birthday in three days. Happy Birthday, Creator's Son! I got him an awesome present and I can't WAIT for him to open it! (It's a _____________) He had a swim party last night and it was really fun.

Have you ever seen a blue balloon floating in a pool with only moonlight to see it by? It looks so cool.. Peaceful.... It is so awesome!

Yesterday, I went to several newspaper offices and played my (epic) violin for them and bribed them with cookies. Newspaper offices do ANYTHING for cookies. A lady from my orchestra was trying to get a press release in for two weeks from now, and, for making us memorable, I played my violin. Just thought I'd let you know that.

I got to see and pet some awesome horses on Wednesday. I couldn't swim at one of the most awesome places ever, so I went exploring. I found some gorgeous horses and one fell in love with me.

Our neighbors brought some guinea hens. They are..... (the guineas) loud..... obnoxious..... and annoying.

If you want to learn more about Andrew Peterson and the Wingfeather Saga, go here. It's the official Wingfeather Saga blog.

Sooo... thought I'd let you in on my thoughts for today! Thanks for being such good listeners!

You Wanna Know Random?

Prepare yourself. This is.. A random post.

I play an online game called Horse Isle. You can quest, and walk around and catch horses. They have a couple problems though: A) You have to have a membership to have more than 5 horses. B) If you have an account on one server and you have a subby (membership), you won't have it, any of your horses, or any of your money if you join another server.

My user name is Snowfire, and I have an account on one of the servers called Pinto. Pinto is one of the best servers. We have the most interest rate (yes, you can put money in the bank and get interest from it). All the people that play on Pinto are mostly nice and won't make fun of you if you came from another server to play.  But most of all, we are.... Random.

Oh yes, very random indeed. One time, I did something strange in global (one of the many different chats). Someone said "Random, Snow!" We then proceeded  to have a conversation about what random is. Someone said " Random is when someone yells 'PINEAPPLE' in global". I then yelled pineapple in global, and started a food fight. THEN we started a pop quiz on favorite foods. THEN a mod logged on and threw us free chocolate, which we ate, and then started a fight over who got the most chocolate. We had several people steal chocolate from other people, and then a player named DesertDagger logged in. Well, Dag (DesertDagger's nickname) has a reputation for getting blamed for stuff. Someone (I keep saying someone cuz I don't remember names) said "It's Dag's fault!". That ended the food wars, but suddenly started a wave of everyone blaming everyone else. Then we somehow got around to acting like cows, chickens, and sheep.

Does that show you random?

You know what? I think I will do a 25 random things. Right here. Right now.

  1. I really miss Mustang
  2. I like jigsaw puzzles! We've done a couple lately.
  3. Right now, I'm typing in my pajamas because I don't feel great.
  4. Yesterday, we went to the library, and wouldn't ya know, they actually had some books that I checked out!
  5. By the way, it's Dag's fault.
  6. I adore my loft bed (I'll tell you about it in my next post)
  7. I can't wait to read the Wingfeather Saga again!
  8. Don't you just know how much I'll rant then?
  9. I'm hungry.
  10. I think I want some pineapple! :D
  11. My Dad made a blog!
  12. Now everyone in my family has a blog!
  13. I really like exclamation points!
  14. I've been playing on CP's fruit party lately!
  15. And... I can dress up... as a pineapple...
  16. Ya know what? I don't feel bad anymore!!
  17. But I'm still hungry
  18. At CP's party you can meet Rockhopper! But.. I haven't yet..
  19. I can't wait to go see that crazy kitty Bailey!
  20. Right now I'm reading a weird book.
  21. But it's a good one!
  22. I REALLY miss Mustang
  23. I can't wait to get Andrew Peterson's E-mail address!
  24. Then I can pester him about getting the 4th book out! >:D
  25. PINEAPPLE!

And just for fun (and because I obviously can't count):
26. I'm random! HA! Bet you didn't know that!

Guineas....

Guineas are birds. They are black with white spots. They are about the size of chickens, but much more stupid. Oh yes, more stupid than a chicken. No such thing! You might say. That was my reaction too, until I met a guinea.

This is a flock of guineas. Don't they look stupid?
You know, Mustang, the guinea is REALLY beginning to tick me off.

They waggle their heads around like the idiots they are, all the while squawking their all too annoying ba-GOCK ba-GOCK ba-GOCK. Their squawk usually lasts longer than just three ba-gocks. More like, thirty minutes at the shortest.  They are supremely stupid indeed.

When they run, they sway their heads managing a nice shaking of their entire body whilst they make their running noise, their own version of a turkey's gobble. It doesn't sound much a turkey, however...

You might be wondering if I have an opinion about this. The answer? *innocent face* What makes you think that?

My family knows a song called "Indescribable" by Chris Tomlin. If you ever decide to go find it on YouTube, you should listen for the part near the beginning  where he sings, "Every creature unique in the song that it sings, all exclaiming..." One day my parents were singing it in church and Mom had to try not to bust out laughing. She thought of that dumb guinea as they sang that line.

So, another thing you might be wondering is: How do I even know what a guinea is? A simple  answer: When we moved to this house, there were seven guineas. One by one, they got picked off, and now there is one. When we move back to the Ranch, my grandfather has a guinea. He has said that when they start out as a flock, all but one of 'em dies. That one becomes the Lone Ranger. His is their attack guinea. The guinea walks beside the car until they are safely in the driveway. It is a hilarious sight to behold indeed!

Interesting Days!

Since the last time I've blogged, I've had some very interesting days.

We went strawberry picking with Mustang and her mom to make strawberry jelly afterwards. (The jelly is yummy!)
We had picked all the strawberries by now, and if you can't tell, I took the picture. Aren't we interesting?

The rest of that day was spent at Mustang's house. We played in the creek, she found an ARROWHEAD, we broke a bunch of giant flint rocks, and, quite accidentally and without having any knowledge of this, found and broke A GEODE!
My bigger half of the geode

Then the next day, we took Mustang out to the Ranch and we fixed up our tree fort.

Sunday was tap pictures. I hate being princessified.

Don't I look oddly thrilled?

In the long run, however, I liked it

Monday, I was at orchestra and we (3 homeschooled girls talking to 2 publicschooligans) and both publicschoolagins said they wished THEY were homeschooled, then one said " Yeah, I wish I was homeschooled, but they said that 81% of homeschoolers never get to collage because of the socialization." Ha! The entire rest of the time we (the homeschooled girls) ran around saying stuff like "AAAAAAAH! A person! Run away!!!!"  It was pretty fun.

Tuesday, I went to the park, nearly got heatstroke, upped my speed to 15 mph running top speed, and accidentally ran into HR and her mom at the library.

Today, my weirdness is writing this post.

Have a weird week!
