REK Concert!

Last night was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I played in a concert with a famous singer, Robert Earl Keen, whose initials are REK, pronounced wreck. IT WAS TOTALLY AWESOME!!!!! We got..... a STANDING OVATION!!!!!

On the first song Concertante (my orchestra) played, I dropped my shoulder rest. Shoulder rests are the only thing that keep a violinist or violist from pain from holding their instrument on their shoulder. Mine went PLOP right as it was our turn to play, going a zillion an 23 miles an hour. Well, I REFUSED to miss this song, and played..... Without a shoulder rest. But after that song was over, I put it on...

Then, I found out that my orchestra teacher is actually cool, when she's not screaming at someone. I started playing Vivaldi (a famous music writer, in Suzuki book 4) and after the first measure, SHE STARTED PLAYING WITH ME!!!!!! It was totally awesome..

After our orchestra was done playing our MILLIONS of songs, REK and his band got onstage. Well, technically, the band had been backing us up, so REK got onstage.

Here I pause to note the AWESOME drummer dude. He is the nicest in the band, and, as we walked off stage, he high fived me.. yeah! Then, during one of the songs REK and the band played, Drummer Dude was drumming with his right hand and shaking a thing with his left hand.. He NEVER MISSED A BEAT WITH EITHER!!!

On one song, it was really funny, REK leaned away from the VERY sensitive microphone and asked the guy next to him "The starting chord is a B, right?" The guy answers. "Oh good." Silence. "Oh wait.... I start this one!" It was pretty funny.

In case you are wondering, I play the violin, am in book 4 of Suzuki, (it is fine if you don't get that, it just means I am better at playing than all other 10 yr olds I know..) and can shift to 4th position. (That means, instead of doing the easy playing, I am playing really high notes and am playing down the finger board.) My orchestra name, Concertante, means a piece of music for an orchestra in which several of the instruments have occasional solos.

See, I told you I wouldn't post about the Wingfeather Saga! ; P
