REK Concert!

Last night was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I played in a concert with a famous singer, Robert Earl Keen, whose initials are REK, pronounced wreck. IT WAS TOTALLY AWESOME!!!!! We got..... a STANDING OVATION!!!!!

On the first song Concertante (my orchestra) played, I dropped my shoulder rest. Shoulder rests are the only thing that keep a violinist or violist from pain from holding their instrument on their shoulder. Mine went PLOP right as it was our turn to play, going a zillion an 23 miles an hour. Well, I REFUSED to miss this song, and played..... Without a shoulder rest. But after that song was over, I put it on...

Then, I found out that my orchestra teacher is actually cool, when she's not screaming at someone. I started playing Vivaldi (a famous music writer, in Suzuki book 4) and after the first measure, SHE STARTED PLAYING WITH ME!!!!!! It was totally awesome..

After our orchestra was done playing our MILLIONS of songs, REK and his band got onstage. Well, technically, the band had been backing us up, so REK got onstage.

Here I pause to note the AWESOME drummer dude. He is the nicest in the band, and, as we walked off stage, he high fived me.. yeah! Then, during one of the songs REK and the band played, Drummer Dude was drumming with his right hand and shaking a thing with his left hand.. He NEVER MISSED A BEAT WITH EITHER!!!

On one song, it was really funny, REK leaned away from the VERY sensitive microphone and asked the guy next to him "The starting chord is a B, right?" The guy answers. "Oh good." Silence. "Oh wait.... I start this one!" It was pretty funny.

***
In case you are wondering, I play the violin, am in book 4 of Suzuki, (it is fine if you don't get that, it just means I am better at playing than all other 10 yr olds I know..) and can shift to 4th position. (That means, instead of doing the easy playing, I am playing really high notes and am playing down the finger board.) My orchestra name, Concertante, means a piece of music for an orchestra in which several of the instruments have occasional solos.

See, I told you I wouldn't post about the Wingfeather Saga! ; P

MWAAHAHAHA!!!

More Wingfeather Saga for you! Aren't you happy?

Now they  (Mustang and her mom) are VERY close to having those same questions and no answers... VERY close.... This is almost enjoyable, but not quite...

Yesterday, I went over to their house for a time, and she will, by finishing the book, soon know that a few things she said are wrong.. Not bad estimates, just completely wrong!

Anyway, I, as I said, started the first book again, finished it, read #2, finished it, and, STARTED #1 AGAIN!! But then Mom wanted it, so I am letting her read it. But they are VERY good books and I very much encourage you to read them.

I am sorry if you are waiting for me to post about something besides the Wingfeather Saga. It will be soon. Because, and you can hold me to this, I will not post about the Wingfeather Saga again until Mustang has those same questions floating about or they finish the book (and I will get it back.. Mwahahaha!).

Just wanted to update you on the Wingfeather Saga.. I am still waiting for next year.. Waiting until 'The Warden and the Wolf King' .. Waiting until Mustang can want to scream these simple questions with no answer until later..

These few questions :
Is ______________ gonna _____ just when they ________ him??
The author wouldn't be THAT rude, right?
Why is ___________ a ______________, how and SERIOUSLY, IS HE GONNA _________?!?!?!?!?!
AND WHY ON EARTH DID _____________ ___________ DO THAT ?!!

I now know the answers (and the words that fill in the blanks!) to these questions, but Mustang.. Does not. I can't wait!

Hee Hee...

Hee hee... I still love the Wingfeather Saga....

My friend Mustang is reading the series (by way of us!) with her mom, and they just started the 3rd book.. Hee hee... This means that soon, very soon, she will have the same questions circling her head while she does school all day.. Mwahaaahaaa!!!!!!

This also means I now have the first and second books back in my control. As of Monday she gave "North or Be Eaten" back, and guess what I did IMMEDIATELY? I read it! Yes, I already read it.. AGAIN...

It was a good book the second time, too.. Last night, I read for about 3 hours straight, and read from Chapter 8 to Chapter 41,  and this morning grabbed my book as soon as possible. It is such a good book! I love how Andrew P. puts in the twist of _________________ and the other one, where _________________ happens. Isn't that right, Mustang?

I have told my family that until the next book comes out *cringe* NEXT YEAR I will read the first 3, or however many Mustang doesn't have, until I pretty much have them memorized. That means that today, the book I start (as I am ALWAYS in need of a book!) will be... Ahem............  'On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness' !!!!! Aren't I predictable?

Oh yes, I plan to read them over and over and over again till I can quote passages at a time, read the books from memory!! Okay, in all reality, I may not read them till I have them memorized, but I will read them until the next book comes out!

I still have that entire paragraph from the end of my LAST post about the Wingfeather Saga waiting for Andrew Peterson. Waiting till it can be put in a personal letter..... But oh well. I say COCK A DOODLE DOO to him, for now........

IT SNOWED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, that is all caps and lots if exclamation points. The reason I am so excited about this fact is that here where we live, we NEVER EVER EVER get snow, so it was really exciting.

But I didn't get to play in it because (drum roll, please)......... we were driving back home from a place that is 3 hours from here. In the wet. And cold.  AND SNOW!!!!!!!

But when we made several stops to go to the bathroom and stretch our legs, I did get a snowball in at my brother... ; P    Anyway, it was cool to watch completely white countryside whiz by. We even saw some cows with snow on their backs.

So Sunday was exciting, but after a while it all turned to ice and sleet and hail. But we made the best of it and we didn't skid or anything. God sure was watching out for us!

One guy, when we stopped somewhere, saw the ice on Nana's Vue and asked " Where are ya'll coming from?" When we told him, his eyes grew wide and he said " Great. I'm headed up through there, a little north of there!"

There was a LOT of ice on the Vue.  You could barely see the license plate, and we had to stop ever so often to knock ice off the wipers. The was so much ice on the rear view mirrors that you could barely see out!

The reason we were ANYWHERE three hours from here was because my aunt was moving to a new house about a mile away from her old one, and we and Nana had come to help. I like to help pack boxes, and I like to help unpack boxes, I just don't like actually switching houses.

I helped as much as I could with a 2 and a half year old making sure he could always see me, and when he couldn't, make sure he was yelling my name, which in his language is Feesa.  Of course, he is Wayee in his language, so....

Always make sure you can throw snowballs at your brother when it is snowing. Then make sure your WHITE stuffed dragon doesn't fall out of the car into a MUD puddle, THEN make sure you don't skid, slip, or ram anyone else's car.

We had a lot of fun in the snow even though we couldn't play in it.

Puffle Adventures

Nother puffle story!

Pink puffle, Popper, and green puffle, Propeller, played on Ski Hill. Popper always managed to get the slightly younger puffle manipulated away from the edge. But Propeller saw the Tallest Mountain, and decided that it would be more fun to play there than it was on this tiny hill.

So he grabbed Popper and flew of without even asking what she thought of his great new idea. Well, she didn't like it and demanded he put her down, but he absolutely refused to drop her. They both got what they wanted when he spotted a tall mountain that was much closer and landed on it. As soon as they landed, she told him that they HAD to be back at Ski Hill when their penguin came to pick them up in a few hours.

He wasn't worried and replied that he could see Ski Hill from here. When she looked, she could see it too. She relented, but made sure that they would leave before their penguin had to get them so they would get there in time. So she made him stop playing and leave at about 10 minutes before their penguin was supposed to be at Ski Hill.

That exact moment is when they found out that his propeller hat no longer worked. She knew they were mere minutes away from becoming wild puffles, and though it would be fun, she needed igloo life! She knew that spinning her lasso to fly would only support one puffle at a time, and that Propeller did not know how to throw or twirl a lasso.

It was up to her now, and she knew it. What could she do? Maybe she could....... That was it! She made two lassos, then swung both and looped them around a tree branch, but kept the ends with them. She told him to keep his end, and once he saw that she was across, to swing over.

She hoped it would work as she swung herself and let go, landing perfectly in the snow of Ski Hill. She gave him the signal, and he came swinging. She hoped he would let go at the right time.... He almost didn't, but she swung her lasso and caught him. He climbed up the side of the wall, and they chased each other around for about 30 seconds until Icepooka walked up, clipped their leashes on, and went home.

Propeller decided, that day, that instead of pushing it and almost getting in trouble, he should listen to those older and wiser.

Popper found out that she should always be ready to help and act fast when it is needed.

Meeting Mustang

I know that Mustang put a post about this, but oh well......

We met through the Home School Co-op we go to, but the weirdest thing was that we had been going to the same one for about 2 years! But her mom became the Director of Co-op and my mom was the Assistant Director, so we had to get together.

They came over here the first time we really acknowledged the other existed. It was really awkward at first, but soon we were playing, and we got along great on Friday the 13th (how bizarre!). Then we got together for Co-op registration 3 weeks later at Nana's clubhouse and swam in her pool. The next day, we went swimming at a local river for a Back to School thing.

They came over on my brother's birthday, and gave him an awesome birthday present, and we played for hours! Soon, we began doing more and more things together. We even took them to the Corn Maize that month!

One day in January (says mom), we were doing Co-op registration again, and played horses with one of our good friends. Mustang calls her Squirt. Anyway, we played horses, but Squirt had to leave, so it left Mustang and I.  After it was over, Mustang and I convinced the moms to get together the next day.

So Mustang and her mom came over the next day, and we played for hours, being horses one minute and wolves the next! It was really, really fun.

Now, when we can, we go everywhere together. She has taken me out to the awesomest place ever where we swam, froze to death, played horses, made up an awesome game, warmed up in the weirdest place ever, and played our awesome game in swimsuits. The picture of me on the top at my blog was the first time we went out there... I love that place! Then she took me out there a second time. That went pretty much the same way....

We have taken them to the Corn Maize twice, and it was amazingly fun! She is exactly like a sister to me, but she is a better Carl than anyone else.....

Her (left) and me (right) at the Corn Maize

Me (left) and her (right) still at the Corn Maize, getting pumpkins

Click on it! You can see her ( in the middle in the blue shirt) chasing me in the middle in the purple
Here are some pictures of our many adventures, these are just a very minuscule few:
Her being a crazy Carl (still at the Corn Maize, but the next year)

Puffle Pals

More completely... random intervals... In other words, I still don't know what to write about!

Today, two puffles are about to meet for the first time. They are black, whose name is Grumble, and white, whose name is Snowflake. Snowflake has been owned once, and ran away as soon as she could. Grumble, however, lived in a comfy igloo, and didn't want to leave, but it was that or starve, so he left.

Grumble has just come upon Snowflake, who is hiding in the bushes. He asks her what's going on, and she is afraid to answer. When he asks again, her reply is where did he come from. He tells her that he ran away because he could either leave or starve, so he chose leave.

She squeaks sadly, then hops off. Grumble doesn't want to leave his new friend, so he runs after her.  He still doesn't know much about her. She realizes that he found her again, and won't leave her alone. She is secretly glad that someone likes her, but she has to convince him to go back home!

She finally tells him that she had once been owned, but she loved life as a wild puffle and she loved her family, so she ran away at the first chance she got. When she came back, all her family had been captured, so she was alone. No one liked the small, alone white puffle, so she had taken to hiding. One day she had gone to the igloo she used to live in, but when someone opened the door, the slammed it immediately. They wouldn't take her back.

He tells her, now, that he had only run away because he was starving. He thinks her story was really sad though. She tells him please go back! Soon, she has him convinced, but he won't go without her. She escorts him back to the igloo, and then tries to slip off, but the door is opened first.

"Oh there you are, Grumble! I had to run to the Pet Shop to get some more food. I'm sorry you got hungry." The penguin in bright blue exclaims. "Now who is your little white friend? She looks cold, hungry, and alone. Would you like to live in an igloo, little one?"  Hardly able to believe her good fortune, Snowflake nods.

Icepooka (the penguin) knows not to let her puffles starve, and that she owes still having a black puffle to Snowflake.

Grumble knows that he should give everyone a second chance, if he can.

Snowflake knows not to judge igloos and be glad she is allowed to play in the yard.

The Puffle Friends

I have decided to randomly at quite random intervals continue a story on those rascally puffles I wrote about yesterday, and I don't know what to write about, so here we go.

Today, Crayon, who is yellow, and Disco, who is purple, are dancing at the Night Club. Suddenly, the lights bounced off a piece of paper that Crayon was using and onto Disco. They both giggled. It felt weird!

Then more lights hit it and bounced to Disco. They realized that Disco was fading. Crayon was scared! His best friend was disappearing, and there was nothing he could do.

When Disco had completely faded away, he wondered if she was hurt. But he could feel the answer was no, she was fine. He felt her confusion, and suddenly realized that she was in a city, not on Club Penguin any longer!
He knew that he was the only one that could save his friend, and so he set out to do so. He knew he had to find Gary the Gadget Guy, who would obviously have a puffle translator, as it was his invention.

He ran to G, who understood the frantic puffle had to tell him something and clipped a puffle translator on.  Crayon told him the story and asked for help. G was confused, though. How could a puffle go anywhere? Crayon told him about the lights bouncing off, and how he knew she was somewhere else.

G thought he had the answer and told the little puffle to look next to him. Boy was Crayon ever surprised! The air was shimmering right next to him in the shape of a puffle!

He told G that apparently, his friend had  only gone invisible. G gave him some spray to spray on her, and they went back to the Night Club, where they sprayed her all over.

Then Crayon and Disco were dancing side by side together once again.

Disco learned that she can always trust someone to try and help her.

A Random Story

This is a random story about- you guessed it!- puffles!!!

A blue puffle, by the name of Sapphire, and a red puffle, Tristin, were playing together. Sapphire bounced on her ball, while Tristin  played bowling. Sapphire giggled when Tristin made a gutter ball in bowling, which made Tristin shoot out of his cannon at her.

He had aimed a little to low, and hit her ball instead, while she jumped to safety. They both watched in horror as the ball split, just a little tear, but the ball deflated. Sapphire began to cry while Tristin comforted her. He told her that they could fix her ball, and she believed him.

But now he had to think of how to fix her ball. He thought, and thought, and thought. Finally he had it! Ask the green puffle,Propeller, if he had any gum!

He told Sapphire his plan, and they began to seek out Propeller. They looked in the igloo, and he wasn't there. The penguin must have taken him out on a walk! Tristin told Sapphire this bit of information. She agreed, and the first place they went was to the Pet Shop. It would be less obvious for two puffles to hop around there than anywhere else.

They dodged penguins, which wasn't hard that early in the morning, until they got to the Pet Shop. They watched from the vantage point in the tubes until they saw a familiar penguin and green puffle.

They dropped out of the tube and raced over to Propeller. They asked if he had any gum, but sadly he did not. He had just finished chewing some a few minutes before!

Then Propeller had the idea to ask the pink puffle, Popper. She could usually be seen chewing gum. He also said she was still at the igloo, and they followed penguin after penguin until it was safe to dodge in the door of the igloo.

When they got inside, they saw Popper across the igloo jumping rope. They hopped over and asked her if she had any gum. Her reply was yes. She gave them some gum, and that was when they realized they needed something to blow the ball full of air with.

They asked her if she had anything like that, and she told them to ask a penguin at the docks.

They were scared! Talk to a penguin? But Tristin knew it was the only way to save his friend's ball, so he led Sapphire to the Docks.

They waited until he looked up and saw them, and he immeaditly knew they were friends of Popper's. He turned on a puffle translator (new invention of G's) and asked them what was wrong. In a hurry, they told him the story and asked in they could borrow something to pump the ball full of air again with.

He gladly let them have his bicycle tire pump, and they raced home to pump the ball up. Tristin pumped until Saphire said that it was full enough. He let go long enough to put the gum over the tear. The ball was good as new!

Tristin got innumerable amounts of thanks from Sapphire, and they started playing again.

Tristin now knows to laugh with Sapphire when he does something wrong or funny, not get mad at her.

Sapphire knows not to laugh at Tristin (as much!) when he gets a gutter ball, or falls off his surf board.

Tristin

Okay, okay. I absolutely adore Tristin. He is red and has a top hat. Oh, and, he's furry.

Yep, that's right- Tristin is my new puffle! He is SO cute!! He is, obviously, red and is wearing a top hat.

Being red means he likes to explore- No! Tristin stay out of the sink!- Sorry, he's a little hyper. Anyway, he likes to explore, play and go on adventures. He also likes bowling-Tristin! That is NOT a bowling helmet!! Again, he's a handful. But I wouldn't trade him for anything! He likes bowling and surfing, and enjoys hopping on my head while pretending he's surfing. Tristin!!!!!!!!!! STAY OUT OF THE SINK!!!

I love my Tristie. There's no telling what he'll get into next- oh wait, yes there is. TRISTIN!!! GET OUT OF THE CAR!!! AND GET INSIDE!!

Tristin, outside taking in his surroundings

Him now looking in the car, wondering what to do
Him in the car wondering if Walmart has Puffle O's
